Work first, blog later

I haven’t updated my blogs for almost a month and I want to freak out! Because of my super busy schedule and well, laziness, I’ve only written one post for each of my four blogs for the month of September :( Which means to say I also didn’t meet my target of 5 posts for each blog every month and it is just disappointing. If only I could spend more hours in front of the computer then 5 posts a month is chicken. But I simply can’t stay on line all the time. My job as a QA starts at 6:00 AM and ends at 2:00PM. There are even times when I need to extend working hours up to 8:00 PM to meet deadlines and turn around time. After that I still have to run errands at home. I’ve volunteered to baby sit my newly born nephew from 5:00PM to 7:00PM so that my sister can take a rest from taking care of her baby all day. I actually have 8:00 PM onwards for my blogging activities but I also need to sleep before 9:00 PM or else my mother would have a hard time waking me up the next morning. And what about 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM? That’s wasted time on traffic. And yes, my bad English is also a problem. I have a lot of ideas but I find it hard to put it into words. I don’t know when will I be able to update my blogs on a regular basis but as of now, my full time job is my top priority – joke haha! Okay, I’m going to put it this way: my job is my top priority but my blogs are my super urgent priority haha :)

An Invitation to a Trade Show Display

A college friend who is currently working in a Japanese-owned business that exports fragranced candles invited me to attend their company’s trade show exhibits. My friend told me that the competition in the export industry is becoming stiff, so their company has to think of a new way of creating an impression in the market. She, also a Business Management graduate, is a part of the marketing team and she apparently needed some “friendly support” on her pilot project. And so I was there.

Honestly, this was the first time that I’ve attended a trade show display and I was quite impressed with the presentation. There were a lot of booths and a lot of people walking around. I was actually uncomfortable at first because most of the audience were business men, clients and marketing staffs. Fortunately, my friend would always ask me from time to time if I needed something or if I’m hungry :) Katherine was super nervous because the trade show was her idea but based on the facial expressions of the attendies, there was no doubt that they appreciated the event as much as I did.

One of the many things that grabbed my attention was the design of the table covers and table top display. The prints were cute, there were pink florals, the fabric looked elegant and they made the room look nicer. The theme was perfect for the company’s products. Simple but not plain. On the table were the scented candles which I really loved! I was lucky enough to be able to get one for free, compliments of Katherine :)

Math Lover: Part 1

When I was in college, there was one subject that I never learned to appreciate. Not only because Differential Calculus was one hell of a heavy-math subject, but I also couldn’t figure out how am I going to apply all those x’s and y’s in everyday life. Let me put it in concrete terms: suppose I needed to buy a piece of bread in the bakery, do I have to bring out a scientific calculator and start computing for the x? Silly! Of course I know my argument is sooo stupid!

The reason why I am sort of reminiscing about that nightmarish subject is that just yesterday, a neighbor came to our house and was asking me to help tutor her son on his math assigment. It brought back ugly memories of the past. It’s like a recurring dream, I see myself sweating buckets during departmental exams and the feeling of my cold palms while I patiently wait for the results. Eeeehh… I wanted to help but I wasn’t confident because I know I was never good in math! I worried that instead of helping the boy, it would turn out as a major disaster. That I wouldn’t be able to explain to him the basics of algebra and that everyone would laugh at me.

Mary’s Note

One of my deepest regrets in life is that I wasn’t able to keep all the letters and notes that I received from close friends, classmates and acquaintants. I love handwritten letters. For me they are special. In fact, I used to have a shoebox full of letters which I managed to carefully collect since grade 5 up to college. Valentine’s, christmas, lenten season, birthday, etc. But an evil relative stole my letters away :( Her purpose? I know why but it’s a dark family secret. Something I shouldn’t disclose in public. I don’t know what she’s going to do with all those “happy-valentine-merry-christmas-happy-birthday” notes but until now I still curse her for what she has done. Ok. Wait. It’s not exactly a family secret hehe. It’s just too personal to talk about that here.

On the brighter side, those people who gave me those letters will never be forgotten. They will always be kept inside my heart. I may not recall anymore the content of their letters, but I will never forget their thoughtfulness and kindness. I know it sounds mushy but it’s true hehe :)

Sterndal,

Heia! New name mo! Neway, thanks for this wonderful time. I miss doing this thing which we usually do way back in high school. Everytime you get to look at this, you’ll feel and remember I am still the same person hooking up with your life years from now. Thanks for being my real bestfriend! Take care! God bless! Have a blessed holy week!

A New Little Angel

Today is a very special day. My sister and my brother-in-law have just announced that they’re going to have a baby soon :) This is their first! Everyone in the family is so happy and excited about it. In fact, mom is already thinking of buying gifts for my sister and her baby-to-be. Although it’s a bit too early to search for the perfect gift, Kally is just 3 months pregnant, we want something that the baby can use like changing tables, toy chest, or baby mobile.

The preparation for the coming of our new little angel is such an awesome responsibility. Kally and BJ are already planning about the nursery room. My brother-in-law wants it to be all white. They don’t like blue. They don’t like pink. They think white is appropriate whether the future baby is a boy or a girl. For the furniture, they want to purchase a rocking chair and a baby crib as early as now. They also want everything to be made of wood. For the first time parents-to-be, they realized that they must be meticulous in choosing the quality baby furniture. After all, they will be using a big part of their savings for this much anticipated event in their married life so every single cent spent should be worth it.

I just found a site that tackels about Nursery Furniture Buying Guide. Here, expectant mothers are given safety tips on buying the right cribs for their babies. I didn’t know that there are some requirements like “the distance between the crib slats should be no more than 3 inches,” things like that. I think every expectant dad and mom should read that article.
