Dream house

We’ve been wanting to move to a new house but we don’t know where. Available housing loans are usually located in Cavite and Bulacan which are too far away from my current job. We know we want to move but we are not sure if we are willing to travel at least two hours a day just to get to work. With my basic salary, I can only apply for a 50 square meter house from PAGIBIG which is a bit too small if you will ask me. I want my dream house to have a spacious living area and a kitchen with an island. It would have a lot of closets and cabinets, all of which are made of wood. I have a penchant for rustic furniture because it look calming and elegant. I want everything to be made of dark colored wood. I also want my house to have a backyard big enough to build a children’s playground for my niece and nephew.  A computer room would make it perfect. To top that off, I want my house to be situated near a beach. If you’ve watched the Korean TV series, Full House, that’s exactly how I want my dream home to look like. So private and nice.

Try camping

The last time I went camping was when I was 5 years old. We were just playing games back then. Me and my siblings used to make tents at the back of our house and then we’d invite all our friends to join us. We’d bring junk foods and pretend we were really on top of a mountain. It was fun. But I also want to try real camping. My classmate in high school showed me her pictures in Mount Makiling and it’s pretty obvious with their big smiles that they enjoyed mountain climbing and camping. They didn’t need expensive equipment such as rvs, they can’t afford that anyways. They were contented with whatever that would fit in their backpacks which I find cool. It makes me wonder how does it feel to go camping for real. My classmate said it’s pretty tiring but the feeling of being near a mountain or a lake is great. She is actually inviting me to come with her on their next camping trip. Well, okay. I want to try camping but I’m not sure if I’m prepared for such strenuous activity. I would like to be well-prepared if ever I’m going to come with her. Maybe I should gain more weight first.

Prom: A night to remember

Prom is one of the most anticipated events in high school. Everyone is looking forward to that night as if it is the most exciting thing on earth. I remember a few days before our Junior/Senior Night, all my friends were chatting non-stop about what they’re going to wear and who’s going to be their date. I was hesitant to go but my dad, of all people, convinced me to attend :) During that time, my mom was not around so it was my dad who accompanied me to shop for a dress and a pair of high heels. He even hired someone to fix my hair and to put make-up on my face. Memories of my high school prom include young girls in nice dresses and boys in mens suits, boys and girls dancing to the tune of King and Queen of Hearts, and my dad picking me up before 12AM. I think the reason why everyone’s excited about prom is because it’s our only chance to dress up and look really gorgeous. I miss my dad. My personality is really boring. I was never interested in parties or social gatherings. But what if I didn’t attend our high school prom? What if dad didn’t convince me? Wouldn’t that be sad?

Writing about all types of loans

I never imagined my self to be writing about different types of loans because honestly, I don’t have any idea about those things. But I really want to become a freelance writer. It’s my dream and so when I was asked to write about personal loans, I immediately grabbed the opportunity. The hourly rate is not that much but this could be my stepping stone to becoming a certified freelance writer. I researched about the topic and I learned that even those people whose credit background is not perfect are qualified to apply for bad credit loans. This type of loan is actually designed for them.

I’m learning a lot from this writing assignment. The person who hired me is very patient and has always been helpful from the start. He is training me to write fast, as in very fast. I was asked to download a timer/clock and the challenge is to write a 300-word post about personal loans in 30 minutes. Which means to say I have to write 10 words very minute. Well, I’m not good in Math but … more or less 10 words, right? To tell the truth, I couldn’t write that fast. He said he is not expecting me to meet the speed requirements as of now but he expecting improvement as we progress.

I miss my Manila Street

My heart is aching, I’m dying to renew Manila Street. I know my posts there are crappy and non-sense but I still want to have it back. As in now, today, I can’t wait for tomorrow. But since my Paypal account has been suspended for more than a month, I have no choice but to wait until August. It’s really funny because Paypal said I had unusual account activity which is unbelievable. I just forgot my password and then I requested for a reset. A few days later, they are already asking for my credit card to verify my account. Problem is I don’t have one and I have no plans of getting one. I don’t need it. What I actually need is a webhosting guide to get a better understanding of web hosting plans that would suit my needs at the lowest possible price. I really don’t have a problem with my current web host. They’ve been very reliable from the start and the technical support team is always ready to assist in times of trouble especially every time I need a password reset. I just think I should have chosen a cheaper web host plan since MS is just for personal use and I might not be able to submit it in get-paid to blog sites. Perhaps, a one-dollar-a-month web plan will do for Manila Street.

Portia Fan

Aside from the lead character, Calista Flockhart, and Asian actress, Lucy Liu, Portia de Rossi is one of the many reasons why I was addicted with comedy-drama series Ally McBeal. I immediately liked her acting style when I first saw her on TV – she’s smart, witty and very pretty. At first, I couldn’t believe that she is gay because she’s so sexy and beautiful. I just believed it when I saw the videos of her wedding on youtube. She married Ellen de Generes, my favorite talk show host. I like Ellen’s sense of humor, she’s very funny :)

Honestly, I do not consider homosexual as a negative term. I don’t have a problem with gay people especially if they are as adorable as Portia :) In fact, I noticed that most of them are fun to be with and they’re not “plastic.” Most of the gay people I’ve met are very straightforward, they say what’s on their mind in a joking way which I appreciate much.

As I was searching for more photos of Portia and Ellen, I chanced upon this blog which is entitled gay Romania which is written in a foreign language, either Italian or French. I’m not sure. Good thing I have a google translator so I was able to translate the posts in English. I didn’t find any photos of Portia there but reading that blog reminded me that we all created equal.

My favorite animal

Writing essays was one of my favorite activities back in grade school and even until college. Our teacher would ask us to write a 100-word essay about our best friend or favorite animal and then we would have to read our work in front of the class one by one. I liked that part because everybody got the chance to speak up and to be heard. I liked it because I was sort of “forced” to participate in class discussions and recitations.

Things were a bit different in college. Our professor would choose a few students to read their essays by lottery. The rest of the students who weren’t called would listen and then afterwards they are free to criticize grammatical errors, incorrect sentence structures, poor writing style, etc. The professor said it’s a great way for us to learn to speak and write English better. However, nobody wanted to be corrected in front of the whole class. So, everyone’s praying not to be chosen. Except me :) Not that I wanted to be humiliated, I just thought it’s an opportunity to improve myself.

One time, I was called but somebody else was asked to read my paper. I was criticized for using the phrase “the smell of coffee,” they said it should be “the aroma of coffee.” They also hated me for using the words “I love my kid sister.” They said that is American slang so they changed it to “I love my little sister.” On the other hand, the girl who read my essay was criticized for pronouncing the word “behind” as “bi-hayn,” they said the correct pronunciation is “ba-haynd.” Whatever. She was also corrected for reading “Missouri” as “Miswari.”

If you have noticed, this post is really not about my favorite animal. But in case you are interested to know, giraffe is my favorite. Photo by F.R. Munich, Germany.

For Jazz’s first birthday

In less than a month, Justin, my one and only nephew is going to turn one year old. Everyone in the family is very excited about it. His parents want a simple yet fun-filled birthday party for our man. In the place where we live, it’s a tradition to throw overgenerous parties for first birthdays. But my sister and brother-in-law don’t want to break the bank just to have a lavish celebration. So, nothing extravagant, just something they can afford and would make Jazz’s birthday memorable.

Funny is that we used to call him Baby Justin Boom Boom Pow because he dances every time he hears that popular Black-Eyed Peas’ song. Now that he’s turning one, we changed his nickname to Baby Justin Boom Boom Bakulaw. Bakulaw as in monster :) Not that he looks like one. My nephew is kidnap-worthy cute! But the fact that he already has four front teeth makes us feel that he’s growing fast. He started walking two weeks before he turned eleven months old and he’s very smart, you can’t trick him.

We want to invite all his cousins and some of our neighbors’s kids. Basically, it would be a small family gathering but we also want to invite a few close friends. They are still undecided if invitation cards are needed since most of the guests live very near our house. I think it would be great to send personalized invitation cards such as the ones I saw from luau invitations website. My sister is an artist so it would be very easy for her to design invitation cards for her son.

Dreaming of traveling

We didn’t have electricity yesterday because of Basyang. It was annoying because yesterday was such an unproductive day. I wasn’t able to report for work because according to the news, it’s not safe to travel – as if Manila to Paranaque is that far LOL. Truth is, I had dysmenorrhea so whether there was a storm or not, I still wouldn’t go to work. I also wasn’t able to write a sponsored post because I couldn’t charge my laptop :( To cheer up myself, I decided to day dream about the places that I want to visit.

Paris, France – I’m dying to see the Eiffel Tower. In my dreams, I’ve written thousands of posts about me going to Paris, drinking coffee in their coffee shops, and shopping lots of sexy dresses. Whenever I see posters of Paris anywhere, I couldn’t help but to stare and imagine myself being there. Hihi.

New York, USA – just wanna know if I can survive in the big bad city. I have a cousin who works in NY as a bank teller. I’m very happy for her. At least there is someone in the family who is able to live and work there. Proud of her, she calls herself Miss Independent. I wonder if I could do the things she does, working while taking her Master’s degree. Wow!

Runaway bridesmaid

When my best friend told me she’s tying the knots and wants me to be her bridesmaid, I was ecstatic. She’s getting married with her long time boyfriend and she wants me not only to witness that very special day but to be a part of it as well. I felt like I was the most important person in the world. She chose her elder sister as her maid of honor while me and her other sisters were the bridesmaids.

It was a very happy wedding ceremony. After the bride and the groom exchanged their “I do’s,” the priest said “the bride may now kiss the groom” which made everyone laugh. It’s just disappointing that I had to leave the wedding reception very early. While everyone’s enjoying the party, I had to go to work. Night shift. After changing my dress to a corporate attire, I then planned to leave without a word. I didn’t want to disturb the bride and her family because they were too busy talking with the visitors and it actually felt awkward to say goodbye in the middle of so many people. Fortunately, I found a way to say goodbye to the bride’s sisters. I knew it would be impolite to go without informing them.

A few days after that, my best friend asked me to search for wedding thank you notes wording samples in the internet. The couple wanted to send simple thank you card to those who gave them gifts and money. She’s still a little annoyed that I left her wedding party too soon but she easily forgave me.
